Change

Our summer is half way over and autumn routines will soon begin again. All around us are subtle reminders that change must happen, yet we are compelled to be mindful of the things that remain certain. We still want to enjoy the rest of summer while we can, after all, it’s still here. At the same time , we are getting our hearts and minds ready for the next season.

As we listen to the prophets of our era, we become keenly aware of the changes that are coming. We are not there yet, but we know soon things are going to change. We anticipate the future while living in the present. We have work to do, people to relate to, and attitudes to overcome. We live and move and have our being in Christ.

It is time for us to press into the scriptures. In this way we learn the times and seasons around us, as well as the direction to take in our daily walk. The Word develops our inner person. It stretches us, strengthens us, develops us, leads us into understanding. Living in the Word and the Living Word in us prepares us for the here and now,  as well as the days ahead. It is our anchor in changing times.

God is preparing us as we listen to the still small voice. He is full of everything we need. He is well able to equip and train His people to remain steady in changing times. He is never too late, never wrong, never too weak or incapable. He is always near, always pure, always good. He is always trustable!

The questions in my heart are these: Am I willing to change to become more like Him? Can I defer my thoughts to His much higher ones? Can I put my trust in Him even if I do not understand the process?

As I ponder these things I pray. Lord, make me Your vessel for Your purposes. Lord, help me to trust You more. Lord, strengthen me to obey You each and every day through every circumstance put before me. As You prepare me, I submit my life to You. I love You, Lord. Mature me in Your love. Amen
